Hello Souless Silence,
The tone is bright because I'm playing on a single string with thumb and fingers which tends to make the nails strike the strings straight on--hence the bright sound. Playing on the left side of the nails to produce a warmer tone is awkward in this situation. Extending the fingers is not the solution either in this instance. The nails will still strike straight-on producing the bright sound.

Your tone is pretty bad. Practicing excercises doesn't mean you're gonna ignore your bad tone and sound. And your right hand stroking is also pretty weak. You have to extend a lot more your fingers in order to produce a warm nice sound (even in that area you're playing). Sometimes we wanna teach stuff but we don't see all the mistakes we're making. Way to go my friend.
