  • We in America have politicians who believe that the earth is only 10k years old. Just exactly how much progress do you think will be made in the effort to constrain global warming with these morons in charge.

The free world will have to deal with this problem, the US is currently absorbed in dealing with economic problems that were predicted years ago by these "Science people"

  • Incorrect! Dr. Naomi Oreskes, a science historian in addition to other work determined that the "scientific consensus" never declared an imminent ice age. How could she come to such a conclusion? She researched the published papers of scientists during the '60's and '70's.

Bell Laboratories produced "Unchained Goddess" in 1958. The narrator, Dr. Frank Baxter related how scientists were concerned about increasing atmospheric CO2. 1958. Movie made for secondary classrooms, Bell Labs.

  • There were NO weapons of mass destruction in Iraq - just as Dr. Hans Blix said there wasn't; But, BUSH's media machine didn't want us to hear that . . . .

And, now there is NO dangerous global climate change caused by Human Carbon Dioxide - just as the independent scientist are trying to tell us! But, OBAMA's media machine doesn't want us to hear that . . . .

    CHECK OUT: Professor Bob Carter

  • Gw and CC are nuclear lies.

  • widewake:

That's just sad. I posted about the huge financial interests big corps have in preventing the regulations likely to accompany the revelation that humans are causing global warming. It's just a fact that they spend tens of millions to influence and distort public and government understanding. You replied that Al Gore is out to make money too. I then replied that you had lost perspective - like saying a Jew murdering a Nazi was morally comparable to the Holocaust. What was your reply?

  • (cont)

You then re-iterated that Al Gore was in it to make money too - jokingly called "the Carbon Billionaire" (which of course he isn't - his NET worth, being born a rich, is today about $100 million). Amazing - even when you conservatives are confronted with reality, you stay on message, no matter how insane. So let's try this again:

  • (cont)

Exxon/Mobile's 2008 revenue was over $442 billion. That puts it ahead of the 2008 GDP (CIA World Factbook) of Austria, Denmark, Venezuela, Greece, Iran, and Argentina. If it were a nation, Exxon would have the 25th biggest economy on planet Earth. That's ONE COMPANY - but ENTIRE SEGMENTS OF OUR ECONOMY are actively spending to distort the publics understanding about global warming. Al Gore's NET WORTH (much greater than his income) is $100 million. I couldn't find his 2008 income, ...

  • (cont)

but let's guess it's 10% his worth - $10 million income. So Exxon is 40,000 bigger than Gore. Add another order of magnitude for the fact that it's the WHOLE energy industry, plus other entire industries, that have a stake in this. That makes Gore about half a million times as small as the monied interests seeking to distort the case about global warming. So Denier Industry to Gore is 5 orders of magnitude, Holocaust to a single Nazi-murdering Jew is 6 orders of magnitude. I was close.

  • (cont)

For you and your fellow conservative fools, THAT'S what's called perspective. Of course, if you're dumb as a bag of hammers, you'll think "Exxon has lots of $, Gore has lots of $, so they're the same - both have lots of $".

As for the rest of your foolishness, you list a bunch of "scares", and then assume human caused global warming is like all the rest. I don't want to scare you, but let's try to use REASON to examine your comments.

  • (cont)

Your scare examples: i) 1976 Newsweek's 'The Coming Ice Age' ii) the Y2K scare iii) killer bees iv) dying bees

    i) Newsweek is a scientific journal? The fact is that while a few scientists put forth an overdue Ice Age hypothesis (that the media sensationalized), the climate community in the 70's thought that CO2 driven global warming was coming. There's NO COMPARISION between the consensus-from-25years-intense-scrutiny of today with the novel minority Ice Age hypothesis of the 1970's.
