I wouldn't describe the look as "hipster" anyway they wouldn't be able to afford those shirts and pants ;)
The shirt looks good tucked in or not, also the shirt is not loose, the cut was designed that it looks like a dress shirt without the movement restriction. So that you can wear it at a meeting or fancy diner and then jump on the bike without feeling like the back part is going to rip apart.

It's not hipster style, it's cyclist style. Wearing pants of any kind with fitted legs allows him to ride his bike with relatively regular clothes without rolling up his right pant leg so that it wont get sucked into his gears and chain. And anything we can do to not wear cycling tights and remain stylish is a good thing. I'm not taking about wearing girl pants or anything tight like that, that's stupid I agree.
