Well... I think I've procrastinated long enough. I really can't be bothered doing a better review than this I'm afraid.

No complaints about length please; I've already cut it in half and then some ...

Needless to say, I think I've been very very generous in my review. I really tried to keep an open mind about this new Star Trek movie, and you know what? I did a half hour review and didn't say CANON once.

So suck on that!

  • You know what, I like your review but then you just went overboard complaining about everything, though I agree with the 3 1/2 rating. I agree with the rest except your issues with the ff: Spock/Uhura, Starfleet Academy, characters including your JarJar Binks (I happen to like the characters & actors except little Kirk & the weak the villain/s), & ST6 happens to be my fave ST. We were all intended to know about Chang but not the Federation collaborators & it would've had more impact with Saavik.

  • My problem was with the lack of character. There was no character there to speak of. Spock and Uhura was done awfully; again, I really think that they should've just made the movie longer and handled these things properly.

I love Star Trek 6, but I was attempting to play Devil's Advocate and identify the stuff I didn't like about it.

  • I hated JJ Abrams' Star Trek. It was a ridiculous, senseless, shitfest.

  • I pretty much agree on reflection. I had felt the need to go easy on the movie by pointing out that (technically) it had achieved it's goal of pitching Star Trek to new viewers (and by extension, making them consider watching old Trek when they might not have done so before).

So in that sense, it's competent. As far as I'm concerned, it's basically a dogshit of a movie though. Contrived. Lousy.

  • LOL! I love you - you're funny and most of what you said absolutely make sense!

  • I probably could've made it a bit shorter and less serious, but ah well. Cheers!

  • The real writer of this movie was not paid by the set date. So this rough draft screenplay went into production, because Hollywood is desperate. When I wrote Nemesis it was never meant to go into production also. Hollywood greed is what happened and it hurts the fans as well as the writers. I am amazed that they can read a script and cannot tell that it is complete garbage! I no longer write screenplays, or TV so the world will be a better place without me. :)

  • only you would make a compasrrison to led zeppelin to how bad the new star trek was. Well done :)

  • They really should have just made this film about Starfleet Academy.

Lol, boobies aside, having a movie based on a side character could work.

  • @nenabunena Sorry, but you are absolutely in the dark on Star Trek the Original Series. All that show did was buck the system and challenge perspectives. It was shortly after WW 2 and they had a Japanese man working side by side with Americans. It was during the cold war and they had a Russian good guy. The had a black woman in a position of authority. In one episode had a black man who designed computers. There was nothing Stereotypical about Trek, especially for the 60's, so get a clue.

  • @McMahonHater No offense but I don't think you have any idea what ST is all about. How can you make such comments if you have seen the other ST shows & the original? AS of negative stereotypes, you should watch TOS, it's racked with that, you are delusional my friend.

  • @nenabunena You liked the fact that they turned Uhura into a social climbing slut who is fucking her commanding officer and then uses emotional black mail to get what she wants? You think that is something that should be in a Star Trek film? WOW! You have no clue what Star Trek is supposed to be about. Turning Uhura into some skanky Diva was not the right path, they basically played into a very negative stereo type. That is the opposite of what Trek is supposed to be about.

  • Karl Urban is the only member of the new cast that was any good. Everybody else sucked ass, and Orci and Kurtzman need to be dragged behind a car going 60 don't a broken highway.

  • @Zebonka Khan is the best trek villain ever... PERIOD!!!

  • @Zebonka It was a horrible movie, with bad acting, bad writing, bad directing, and over the top effects to distract you from the bad acting, writing, and directing.

  • @Zebonka They didn't pitch "Star Trek" they pitched a movie that was called Star Trek but had nothing in common with the series other then name. It was almost like a couple who gets married so one of them can get a green card. The one common thread that keeps all the trek series together is morality, there is no morality in this film. It was just a bunch of people blowing stuff up... and Uhura acting like a slutty diva.
