Star Wars Theme, on a banjo

One of my favourite Youtube clips was removed a while ago :-(
You might know it (it had lots of views): the one with the guy playing the Star Wars theme on a banjo, bluegrass style.

Now, I consider myself an even less serious banjo player than a guitar player, but I have a simple banjo, for experimental purposes. This tune just looked like so much fun, and I was able to figure out a more or less decent approximation of it.
I don't use the same chords as the guy in the other clip (don't know my way around the upper parts of the neck), but I think I might even have got the... eerm... verse?... (as opposed to the "chorus" bit that it starts off with...) down a bit more elaborately than the original.

Uhm... no... I do have a set of fingerpicks, and occasionally, I try them out to see if I could get used to them. No luck so far. I am starting to get the hang of using a thumbpick on guitar, but not the full set of fingerpicks on the banjo.

Also, someone recently told me that if I would start playing with fingerpicks, it would become even more painfully obvious what a cheap banjo this really is...

You need a better banjo with skills like that! Sounds like intonation is a little off when you're fretting some of the lower notes. A good musician deserves it

@Enemyofreali7y Don't know about the intonation, it could be that it wasn't in tune at all ;-) But you are right: it's a cheap Chinese banjo, with some sloppy details in the construction. My plan is to try and replace the neck with a home-made one. Eventually. It's not at the top of my list yet...

I have an Ibanez with some intonation troubles, so I have an ear for them, haha. Your open notes can be in tune, but when you fret, things go a little haywire. I'd say you're perfectly in tune. I'd be willing to bet someone could set that sucker up for you and you'd be just as happy with that as an expensive banjo! But good work man, enjoyed the video!
