This animation is actually a "test" of its own. Taben and I are working on developing a 3d animated fantasy sci-fi series and this video is a means to test what we can produce given our very limited resources. Though this video is pretty rough around the edges, I'm quite pleased with the results given the 2 to 3 week production time from start to finish. It was definitely not easy to create, but at least I learned a few tricks in the process.

This is also a big milestone for us as it is our first truly original 3d work. I wanted at first to call this a pilot episode for the upcoming series we're calling "Delura", but I did not feel that this video matched what we plan on conveying later on (in other words, its not an accurate teaser). Delura will contain more drama than it will comedy with what we have developed so far.

By the way, the character in this short is named "Dijard", he won't appear for a good while in the Delura series but is an important character nonetheless.

PROGRAMS USED TO MAKE THIS: Lightwave for 3d elements, Flash for 2d (the holograms mainly), FL studio for music, Audacity for sound editing/creation, Paint Shop pro 6.0 for texture work, Ulead Studio 11 for putting it all together.

  • Very good must have taken a while to work on what you using Auto-desk Maya or some other software?

  • @comradeJoe2 This was created using Lightwave for the 3d elements. See the video's description for the other tools I utilized.

  • What kind of mic did you use?

  • @Bulto00 Unfortunately the only one I have is a logitech USB headset... the quality is ok, but unfortunately there's a huge design flaw in regards to the plastic; it picks up the squeaks/pops of the plastic its made of, which makes it very easy to get unintended sounds in there (most noticeable when the character is moving towards the terminal). I want to replace it with something better eventually, but at this time its not a priority as of yet. The main thing is to get the series off the ground

  • What program did you use?

  • @FurryChannel Lightwave. And to answer the questions for everyone else I've placed all the programs i've used into my video's description. Basically, I used Lightwave for 3d elements, Flash for 2d (the holograms mainly), FL studio for music, Audacity for sound editing/creation, Paint Shop pro 6.0 for texture work, Ulead Studio 11 for putting it all together.

  • very well done

  • ROFL, this was funny! XD

  • Good pacing. Most people would have edited this to a 6 min video, with plenty of walking and long exterior shots.

  • Oh snap, I'm looking forward to seeing more of this.

  • that was pretty awesome...i kinda wish i could work on animation cuz it sees pretty cool you should make a movie or something but i'm guessing that would take a long time.

  • Pretty good you guys might become really good animaters.

  • I feel sorry for the guy. Need to see more.
