Wing Chun world association made this tournament with several proposes, one of them to find out what really works in wing chun, and if wing chun exclusive fighters could fight, conclusions where very interesting, having 30 years practitioners loosing against 2 year practitioner sanda fighters, XXI century Wing Chun most evolve. I am happy to be one of does that love the art, and want to continue develop it until in becomes perfect ...nothing sould be add or subtracted.."
@Skoomax All martial arts are supposed to train you for real fights. The whole "ring sports vs. deadly str33t arts" thing is a false dichotomy. If something doesn't work in a limited rule set, what makes you think it'll work in real life?
@WingTsunThessaloniki Yes wing chun was not made for tournaments. One thing you have to remember they are using Wing Chun principles. Many fail to realize you make the principles fit you.
Wing Chun (Tsun) was not made for tournaments! That's why these fights look silly. I'm sure the fighters mean well, but how can anybody, with this protective body wear, keep the center line? Or apply any technical move...

@WingTsunThessaloniki "Wing Chun (Tsun) was not made for tournaments!"
It doesn't seem to have been made for anything related to fighting.
