    I don't think that's the reason. In the very beginning, tango was only danced in brothels and places where all the immigrants of Argentina gathered and caroused together as a universal means of expression and companionship. The men would dance with the prostitutes, but also with each other. The tango back then was very different to the sensual dance we know now. It wasn't until decades later that it devloped that way.

    i think what your friend was talking about is that a more experienced man (who was typically significantly older) would train younger men (noobs) because the women didn't want to and refused to dance with an inexperienced partner.

  • Zow! My Argentinian friend tells me that tango orginated in Buenos Aires strictly between two men in the barrios. Yum!

    El espectáculo se llamaba Tango-Mozart porque te iba llevando de un lado al otro, integrando esos mundos como Béjart podía hacer.
