Sun Valley Serenade is the first of the only two movies featuring The Glenn Miller Orchestra (the other is 1942's Orchestra Wives). Besides "It Happened in Sun Valley", other Glenn Miller tunes in the film are "Moonlight Serenade", "Chattanooga Choo Choo", "I Know Why (and So Do You)", and "In the Mood".

Notice the guy that fell off one of the sleighs and trying to get back on. Great movie & great music.

The ski lift was invented in Sun Valley in 1936, so it looks like Glenn Miller didn't have to work quite so hard.

No ski lifts...how the hell did you get up on top of those hills?..And those old fashioned wool clothes! And cigarettes too!

Shielded from the ferocious winter winds on all sides by the Wasatch mountains, this was the snowiest place on the entire Union Pacific rail line and thus a logical place for a ski resort.

Love the sound quality of the GM film soundtracks.. Too bad they didn't do more audio recording on film, just for the sake of better sound. I guess it was an expensive medium (still is, I would think).. maybe they could have used film to create the master recordings, and cut the metal master disc (for the 78's) from those? Wouldn't the sound quality have been better on the resultant 78's? I don't know, I'm just babbling....

They may have used heated blankets as well.
