@trimel2 Well with Kirk, you gotta remember that all of these characters are much younger than we see them in the 60s television series. Kirk is still trying to find himself, they all are. So naturally they're going to be different. Also, Shatner's Kirk never lost his father. If you think about it psychologically, the loss of Kirk's father had to impact that family as a whole in a very big way. Without a proper father figure, Kirk ended up a young rebel without any direction. It's kinda fitting.

@Solar2 No talent? Doohan was one of the great character actors in TV history. Kelley was incredible as well. If you can watch their bodies of work and NOT see the talent, you really have no eye for acting. I'm an actor. I've appeared in 7 stage productions. I played two characters in Charlie And The Chocolate Factory.
They show Trek footage in professional acting classes. Nimoy was NOT the best actor on the show. Tell any actor Doohan sucked and you'll be laughed out of the room.

The original Uhura was much more beautiful back in the 60s. Much more exotic and sexy.

JJ really needs a nose job ASAP!

The narrator said Uhura was the only girl on the Enterprise. Not true. She's the only girl on the bridge, but the entire ship.

with you on that. i love the 60's stuff-- TOS is my absolute favourite television show ever.
but in regards to the 2009 film, i think that we need to keep in mind that all the characters are different because they are in an alternate universe. kirk was the most affected of the crew-- in the new universe he didn't have a father, and you can tell from the start that his stepdad wasn't the nicest guy around.

@trimel2 Yes, I agree. Old crew had sense of humor. And for lucky last "Star Trek" with new actors have also some humor. Picard, Janeway, and people from DS9 was too serious.
Let me guess - Tuesday?

These kids are just not Spock/Kirk/Bones etc. They don't have what it takes. The original cast was so unique so once-in-a-million-years. Chris Pine? There is a fucking Chris Pine at every goddamn corner of Hollywood. Roddenberry would have never picked such mass produced dolls to play these characters.
Dad & I watched this without fail back in the '60s.
I hated what they did to the TV series during the '80/'90s.
Spock was played well...
although I found Kirk a little abrasive...
a bit "hoo-ha" rather than Shatner's ability to be a little Sean Connery/Roger Moore "cool".
Bones was well cast - as was Scotty!! :)
Checov with curly hair was also a nice touch - Ha-Ha :)
Dad died in '07. I had a tear in my at the end of the film - he would've enjoyed it - I'm sure.

@sondano You are obviously an idiotic, close-minded fan boy who enjoys hating on anything new. If you knew anything about acting, or had a brain, you'd realise the original crew from TOS were not good actors at all. Lenord Nemoy was the only one with any talent. Everyone else on the bridge couldn't act their way out of a paper bag.
Star Trek 2009 has some of the best young actors in hollywood today, not to mention it's a great movie. You're a dipshit. Shut the fuck up.
