The bread in question seems to be a very light white bread. Heavier breads will require higher settings for a thorough toasting. I suspect the highest settings also act as a failsafe, in case the lower settings, with time, fail to toast properly.

@Evange i believe its not for bread but for frozen pancakes or waffles and stuff like that :)

@Jamwllms much easier to stick it in the toaster on a higher setting than to first defrost it in the microwave then toast it.
I do it all the time with frozen belgian waffles. I put the setting somewhere around 4 or 5.
