He's so wrong about NASA... The most important thing to invest in is science and technology. NASA's budget shouldn't be cut, it should be bigger. So should any government budget related to science and technology. But the "defense" budget should be cut.

the thing about mars is that it's not about it being an adventure. A colony on mars is about the first step towards the ultimate survival of humanity in general. It's simple Mars is the next step towards expansion into the cosmos. We either expand or we stay here and die thanks to others of humanity or with the planet if we leave however Humanity can live on indefinitely.

@erich10001 Nobody said anything about disarming the US. But what is the bigger thread: Being the biggest military power by the factor of 8 instead of 20 or selling yourself to China to pay for the military budget.
Reducing the military budget or the number of nukes doesn't leave the US without the possibility to defend itself. It simply would be a way to cut programs you don't need.
