I'm considering buying a 260. On the plus side, they're very cheap to buy, look OK and, in SE trim, have a decent amount of kit.

The downside has to be that bloody awful, low-tech engine. I suppose it's pretty bulletproof but it's ugly as hell under the bonnet (check out an Alfa V6 or Maserati V8 if you want to see what I mean!), which results in dreadful fuel consumption & pathetic power output.

If only they'd used something like a Jaguar 4.2 V8 instead...

why you think we had it supercharged...,makes more than enough power for a road car now, and any V8 with a blower sat on top looks good, altho i would never buy or not buy a car going on how 'pretty' it is under the bonnet.

The 260 is a very good all round car, and handles over 400bhp easily.

This thread is fun reading. On one side we have owners of 4.6l V8s who clearly know a thing or two about cars and on the other side there is a clueless moron with a crap car who is trying to get a rise. Leave the passat owners alone fellas, he clearly has enough problems of his own to deal with!

MG ZT isn't a sleeper, it has a stupid council-estate bodykit and a shopping trolley rear spoiler, not to mention the fact it looks like someone ramraided Ripspeed for all that tacky mesh.

Even with the Ford V8 = FAIL

(oh I drive a Toyota Supra MKIV Twin-Turbo with 400bhp NOT a 540!)

THE MG ZT V8 is the ford mustang 4.6 litre and not the old v8 buick that BL used in thBut hey im sure the MG ZTT (ESTATE) still holds the land speed record for a production based estate car at 226mph . They are great cars for not a lot of money , granted they have there faults . But you will pay a hell of a lot more for other cars with many faults of there own..

My ZS TD has done 103k....... Seriously, I miss-help my mate chose a Passat 2.5 td over a ZTD the Passat lasted 4 weeks and chucked its dummy, cambelt broke, I've regretted that advise ever since, VW are not like they used to be so you cant use the reliability card, as far as MG are concerned, get RAC cover!!!! incidentally, my mate now has an 05 Jag XJR and tows a red and yellow Morgan 44, i think we should organize a drag race!!! lol
