A sample of Ryan training with a boat rope. Great for finishing a race. See the swimming page on www.purepowerathlete.com to see a sample of Ryan's training.

Thanks. One more question though. Are you supposed to do dry land workouts and pool workouts the same day? which should be performed first? Or dry land and pool training should never be performed in the same day?

  • @ironjohn03 We do the rope workout after the morning pool session.

  • @justbig I saw Ryan at nationals, he got BIG. I was wondering does he lift weights regularly, with doing the rope workouts, and other workouts I've seen such as strongman training and stuff you have posted? Thanks!

  • @element509 We do a combination of weights, ropes, and strongman. He is defintely not afaid to hit the weight room. We get it done.

  • @justbig Also I forgot where I can buy these that arents like 200 bucks?

  • @element509 Try a marine salvage yard. They will have different size ropes for you to cut up and should be fairly inexpensive.

  • @NickC1973 Considering we did these leading up to world's and he swam the fastest times of his life I would have to disagree with you. But nice try...

  • Welcome to the Jungle :D

  • @justbig Nice, liftings fun. I dont know if I can get the resources to do strongman workouts, but I can definitely do ropes, my arms need to get stronger, but this is I dont know where to buy them. I heard of battling ropes but their like 200 bucks. Any idea of a cheaper alternative?

  • @ironjohn03 DBs won't give you the same benefit. DBs are great for strength and diminishing imbalances between right and left sides. The ropes are not hard to find. They're easy to set-up and when not in use easy to store.

  • @justbig

any idea how many pounds it generates by swinging ropes like that? Can I use dumbbells as replacement or it provides different physical benefit?
