Prelude and Fugue No. 3 in C sharp major, BWV 872, from second book of the Well-tempered Clavier by Johann Sebastian Bach. Played by Friedrich Gulda; recorded 1972, MPS-Tonstudio, Villingen, Germany.
It seems to me that the prelude itself (before the actual fugue) is in two parts, with two different themes. Is that right? If so is that unusal in Bach's preludes?
@MarcusHK1 There aren't any special rules for writing preludes, although there are many similarities between ones in the WTC. But you make a good point: the two-section preludes usually have some connection, thematic or otherwise. What about no. 7 from book I?
This is actually Prelude & Fugue No.3 in C# Major, BWV 872 WTC Bk II. Although I prefer to hear this piece in harpsichord, I love this piano version best. I've heard people play this and ruin it completely. Too fast or too slow. The timing on this is perfect. Get a better mic and redo without the hiss.
Thank you for the excellent work. I would love to see you play this someday pls.
@isaiac165 Thanks for the feedback, I've corrected the mistake.
This isn't me playing, in case you thought so. I play some piano, but there is no comparison between myself and Friedrich Gulda I'm afraid. Nice to know you enjoyed it nonetheless!
IF YOU PUT BACH'S PRELUDES AND FUGUES WITH MADSEN'S YOU WILL ACHIEVE YOUR MAIN TREND GOAL, FROM A MUSIC HISTORIAN. ROYAL SCHOOL'S IS ESTABLISHED ENOUGH TO PICK THIS TREND.
