Here's what David has to say:
Michigan No Fault Law Benefits - Attorney David Christensen, partner Michigan Auto Law (Gursten, Koltonow, Gursten, Christensen & Raitt, PC)
"My name is David Christensen http://www.michiganautolaw.com/firm_profile/attorney-david-christensen.php . I'm a partner with this law firm. Today I'd like to discuss an important benefit that's available to all Michigan drivers for their Michigan automobile No-Fault insurance policy. The benefit is called "home modifications." Here's the way they work: If you're unfortunate enough to be injured in an accident, and perhaps confined to a wheelchair or other devices to get around your home, and your home is not accessible, then the Michigan No Fault Act requires your auto insurance company to modify your home, to make it fully handicap accessible for you. Home modifications can be as simple as putting up grab bars, installing a ramp, or various other types of surface modifications -- to something as expensive as adding a room, or in some cases actually building an entirely new house. The Michigan home modifications benefit is an extremely valuable benefit that serves thousands of people every year. This is a benefit that you purchase when you buy that automobile insurance policy. In order to receive this benefit, it will be mandatory for a doctor to write a prescription for the home modifications that you're requesting. In most cases it's necessary for an occupational therapist to come into your home and evaluate the structure and your immobility, to make recommendations for what modifications you will need. It's important to consult with an attorney if your insurance company does not cooperate with what your doctors ordered."
