@MetalSanke working with dumpster fires though, could include many things, some maybe toxic, others reactive... and sometimes the authorities may expect body to be retrieved. We had a recycling dumpster go up at work a couple years ago, I simply went with a couple other guys go out and train garden hoses on it, we got the day off :)
Some fuckin asshole kids in my neighborhood lit like 5 dumpsters on fire and i almost got the blame, had a cop come to my house, almost got sent to juvi, and would of had a criminal record of arson.
@chechnya the problem is that a number of the guys in that department have rather the "superman" attitude about firefighting, hence the non-usage of SCBA. I assume you're a firefighter so you would understand about people with the "superman" attitude. I myself am a firefighter in a not-to-be-named surrounding town to where this was.
I'd rather them come out and put it out versus having an untrained citizen get close and possibly injure themselves from any toxic materials. Why these guys weren't wearing SCBA, who knows.

@firedept35 yes it may be a small fire but dumpster fires can be just as dangerous as car fires

things are slow because its a small fire, there nothing around it tha can catch on fire and no one is in danger so why rush and get hurt

Why was the FD called? You could of easily put it out with a extinguisher.
