Great version but Steve made the same mistake Ed made all the time and ruined Allen's favorite part

This is the last known recording of freebird before the plane crash on October 20, 1977...they were on their way to Louisiana State University to play a show and record the event on film but as we know...they didn't make it.

Allen Collins!!! LEGEND!!!!!!!
-
This song, if released today, would need 14 rappers and Allen would have to have an arrest record, and Gary would need a grill and gold "teef'.. to even get played..

Allen was kicking major ass.. but listen to thee rhythm playing from Steve and Gary also excellent..

If their last show before the crash was like this, that means Freebird was the last song Ronnie and Steve played. What a song to go out with, on a high note!! Just found that interesting. Great band and people! RIP
I think allen collins is way better than anyone who does like shredding and stuff. i consider him miles above the hammets and the malmsteins and the van halens of the world. i really do.

I have heard this song probably over 1000 times and it still just as good as the first time I heard it traveling down the road in my dad's car.
There can be no doubt: It is the best guitar song ever written. If you want to argue the point, go open your window and jump out of it.
The Best Guitar Song of All Time...period!
