  • Ah good times! I was six years old and I was a big fan of trains. The best part of the Red Birds was that the lights went off when the train makes a switch. Nice video!

  • We want the Redbirds back in New York City. Lets write to the MTA of New York City. We also want the Twin Towers back. Bring back the old New York City. I MISS THE REDBIRDS AND THE TWIN TOWERS.

  • @noreaga12326 I like some older cars.I don't like graffiti.Makes things look cheap,dirty trash.

  • @Marydawgs i could only imagine. As much as i loved the graffiti cars, some of them also didnt have working A/C's. None the less, I miss the old train cars. They had lots of flavor and variety. The newer cars are boring.

  • I rode trains to and from high school.Travelling up & down the west side of Manhattan on the A train. What fun!Boy,did that train barrel uptown from 59th St.& Columbus Circle to 125th St.!Express! No stops!Next stop 145th St.then 168th St.I'd be home in no time from West 4th St.in the West Village.

  • I remember riding the trains as a kid with my dad.We would be in the first car looking out the window. My father told my sister & I what the different signals meant & we watched the switches flip when we changed tracks.Great fun!

  • @TheNYCFox The redbirds were cool.A friend has model trains set up in his basement. He has model redbirds!Boy,are they cool looking!

  • @Killer23307 Yep

  • @noreaga12326 Yes.There were several old cars like that. Some had the seats covered with an entertwining straw like covering and the center poles & straps were enamel covered. The entry & exit doors opened from one end instead of closing from either side & meeting in the middle of the doorway.Very old stuff!Boy,were they hot in summer!

  • @Marydawgs are u talking about the old vintage cars with the celing fans on top? I was born in the mid 70s so i never rode those but i've seen them in the transit musuem

  • @noreaga12326 I remember when subway cars weren't air conditioned. No fun riding them in summer, during rush hour.Don't miss it.

  • @Killer23307 Brooklyn Bridge is the stop for City Hall. It's the last stop on the southbound IRT #6 Pelham Bay line.
