Gotta love California where the California Dept of Motor Vehicles states: "Motorcycles may travel faster than traffic during congested road conditions and can travel in the unused space between two lines of moving or stationary vehicles, which is commonly called lane splitting". Some video of the R6 around San Diego, Southern Cal.

ill never forget the time i moved over for a rider (left lane) and a biker hit me from behind when i moved onto the shoulder. Luckily he was not serverely injured.

I move over for splitting bikes as well all the time, if they are blocked in I just hit the shoulder and signal them to pass,lol. Hopefully this is repaid when I get a bike soon.

There is so much room between the cages! I gotta post a vid of lane splitting in Bangkok. Less than half the space between the cars. I have even nicked both mirrors to either side it was such a tight fit. Usually here isn't enough room to drive in a straight line, you have to swerve to miss the mirrors.

First time I did this was following my buddy on the 5 south in orange county. I almost shit my pants the first time. No matter what it takes balls to do this. People get pissed when they see you coming and sometimes move to block you. Idiots would rather kill you then let you split the lane. That truck who moved most likely was a rider. You can usually tell who rides a bike by how they drive their car. Awesome stuff.

Agreed, I usually notice it's guys in trucks that will yield over.. i always try to throw a wave to let them know i appreciate!
