you know what? I finally found which of the game variations is the one which best resembles the arcade original: the 4th one. (with both the difficulty switches set on A)
so you can have asteroids that, when hit, scatter in all directions, an extra life every 10.000 points, hyperspace and, last but not least, satellites and UFOs shooting at you!!!
try it and then tell me if it wasn't intense :)

@DethSlayerTwo Hm, that's weird. I'd get a new copy.

@DethSlayerTwo All your other games work fine?

@DethSlayerTwo I'm surprised your's broke. I have never had an Atari 2600 cart break on me.

Since Mark lost the packaging, here is my recollection of what the instructions said. You are a Space Ranger, or something like that (presumably Buzz Lightyear's father) and you are patrolling the neutral zone (well maybe I got that part from Star Trek) when suddenly your detector circuits light-up showing that asteroids are approaching. In other words, you are screwed.
Good luck, Space Ranger.

It is often over-looked that the real reason the UFO is attacked you is because they had watched an episode of "AVGN" and watched revenge on the human race.

That didn't seem like a real review like you usually give
you said "push the button for hyperspace"...which is wrong.
that was to fire.
hyperspace was "pulling back on the joystick".
(if in that mode) otherwise it could be a shield.
I'm just sayin.
the facts man..just statin facts.

Yes, that is correct. I slipped that one up. For the 2600 version of asteroids you pull back for hyperspace -CGRHD
