hi mate just saw your vidio sorry your snake past but just thought i would tell you its a mating thing they do to get the pheramones all over them self to attract male or female both sexes do it but more common in males,though i havent seen my pythons doing it in breeding season i do see my corns do it.

@relstacat Thanks, we miss him but he lived a long active life. The poor guy never had a mate though. Wish I had bred him so we'd still have a part of him with us.

Well, he's actually been dead for a few years now but the tank was about 75 gallons (about 4 ft long by about 3 ft tall and yes he had a shelter. He could stretch all the way out without touching the sides. He was about 12 when he passed but the herp expert I took him to told me it was most likely a mating behavior. He was a corn though and not a ball python. (not sure if you were just using that as an example)
