UPC is the merger of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Jesus Christ (PAJC) & Pentecostal Chrurch, Incorporated (PCI). The PCI believed and that the phrase For the Remission of Sin means BECAUSE OF THE REMISSION OF SIN. Water baptism therefore for the PCI and other oneness teachers is not the cause of the remission of sin. Like the verse which says, "Repent, FOR the kingdom of God is at hand." Many oneness preachers in the beginning believed that only the blood of Christ could remit sin; but such forgiveness would be demonstrated through water baptism. We can't deny that there are many trinitarian and oneness groups believed that salvation could be received by water baptism; but there are many also who believed that baptism is a figure or picture of Salvation in Christ Jesus.
