Merlin is disturbed by a dark shadow as it flickers past the window late one evening. Looking over to his companions still fast asleep, the young warlock grabs a staff and quietly creeps outside to investigate.
Slumbering under a silver moon the village is eerily quiet. Something watches Merlin, hidden under the cover of darkness. Tensely edging forward Merlin hears a scuffle nearby. Raising the staff above his head, prepared to attack... WHAM! Sir Gwaine rounds the corner!
Face to face with his cohort, Merlin warns the foolish knight he could have killed him. Gwaine takes great pleasure in pointing out that the deadly weapon that Merlin is brandishing is in fact a fishing rod!
Summary: Merlin is drawn to a distant village when a mysterious illness strikes. However, it soon becomes clear that something sinister turns the air sour and that there is much more at stake than just his own well-being. Far from home and having to fare by himself, Merlin becomes entangled in a deadly game of cat and mouse where he can trust no one. Confused about who is the hunter and who is the hunted, will the young warlock be able to survive long enough to find out the truth?
