Used to hear the station from Toledo, across the state border. It was a great friend. JP was still in the studio in the early 70's. Jay(?) Roberts too.
Please tag this as J. P. McCarthy and Jack Harris. Hard to come by recordings. Harris sounded so much like Bing Crosby that when he moved to the West Coast and did commercials, the Bing Crosby properties sued Harris.
JP was one of the all time great broadcasters.
The above was no doubt in the WJR studios in the Golden Tower of the Fisher Bldg, Detroit, just across the street from the original GM building on West Grand Blvd.
2:46 to 3:05 is pretty shocking to me, since Detroit never even consdered planning for a mass transit system. Nothing wrong with having freeways, but a lot of people know understand why Chicago was able to make something out of it's infrastructure and Detroit hasn't!!!
