I hope you enjoy this video (part 1 of 3) about Kahler. If you think my videos are helpful, consider making a small donation through my website: http://www.dmometalguitar.com.

With this 3-part series, I discuss a solution that substantially minimizes Kahler's bending and tuning problem. I first talked about the bending problem on my Kahler vs. Floyd Rose video series. With Kahlers common behavior, the player needs to dive with the tremolo bar to bring the string(s) back to pitch after a bend. There are ways to ineffectively cheat (or hide the problem), which I also discuss with this video series.

My goal is to make Kahlers stay in tune with bends + dive bombs + pullups. My solution involves four steps:

1. Decreasing the spring tension to tilt the cam forward
2. Bending the string windings by 75 degrees and applying a thick layer of solder
3. Using a Kahler model with a flat cam such as the latest 2300
4. Applying a bit of Chapstick between the strings and the cam

I compared my setup and stringing procedures (and results) to the setup and stringing procedures suggested by Kahler.

I also discuss various one-time steps to make Kahlers in tune. Topics involve locking nut, saddles, string risers, allen screws, roller lubrication, spring setup, Hybrid vs. 2300, etc.

  • Kahler just isnt worth all the sacrifces and extra maintenance. Tremelo enquiped guitars are heavy enough on maintenace so unless you actaully enjoy working on your guitar mechanics more than actaully playing, I would recommend nobody to get one.

  • Intelligent comment. My thoughts: 1. All tremolo systems are somewhat a pain in the ass to maintain, including a Floyd / 2. Kahler is addictive in a good way. The little thing is so smooth and feels so great that I've always been like - man, if I can fix this bending issue, it can be one of the greatest tremolos ever. But you're right - I love guitar mechanics, so the extra steps don't really bother me. But play a Kahler my friend - you'll be hooked.

  • I don't get the deal here.A kahler tremolo is not a double locking tremolo,That is the reason it behaves like that

  • where are parts 2 and 3????

  • I bought a BC Rich Kerry King and I watching your video and I saw in the minute 6:06 the khaler is fixed on my guitar so what do you mind the tremolo is disabled

    (sorry for mi english) :)

  • @guitarrazze is your loking nut on? Check that and if it is than do the same stuff for the kahler of what you can and it should work

  • @eduardosidcardoso it will work i have tryed it

  • You talk about kahler 2300, you mean THE 2300? or the series? Cause I want to buy the esp NV and it has a Kahler 2315 bridge, with your steps, can I "fix" the bend problem?

  • sounds like your bending the fuck outta the strings just 4 the sake of it and not for any musical pleasure.

  • Parts 2 & 3? Not even on your website! Please?

  • So can you show us the solution too? Where's part 2 and 3?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Wow... how about that

I've had a Kahler on a Strat since 1988 and am having another one installed literally this week on a strat I got a few months ago...

over 20 years - same Kahler system - Never had a tuning problem (ever)
