@lostgrl06 this is just my personal opinion but I believe there's nothing really wrong with letting people know that we've been through hardships and overcame them. I personally don't look at it as pity, just as a notice that hey this happened. Also she had one of the strongest portfolios of the cycle and continues to do well to this day.

Plus this is a tv show, audiences want someone they can relate to. Sometimes i wish casting directors would get to know your personality.
