A couple of jigs on my Copley low 'C' flute. The tunes are "The Kerfunten" by Hammy Hamilton and "Gallagher's Frolics" a (as far as I know) traditional tune.

  • Nicely done! I've never heard a flute like that played. I very much enjoyed this! : )

  • @Legertymusic Was just noticing your comments of some months back. Long, long , ago a friend took issue with me when looking at my new flute which I told him was an Eflat instrument ...no he said it's Dflat ...my F flute was Eflat ...so I was interested to see how the problem is talked about with younger trad players . I have friends who play in military bands and we have the same problem ! Great to hear the musical quieter style is being carried on!!

  • @Lisnageeragh, Um...yes...all of which I am well aware of. What exactly was this a reply to?

  • @Legertymusic If you use the classical framework ...they are in C and music is written / read accordingly. You will understand the alto flute as a transposing instrument.

If you play a tune normally in D on the commonly used flute and use the same fingering you will be playing in C on the low C flute.

  • Lol. Cheers, man;)

  • oh haha i just read the more information box...love that tune and the rest of em! very well played as usual!

  • is that kerfunken jig?

    quinn

  • @toshiba009, it depends on if you have keys or not. My D flute has five silver keys (C, Bb, G#, F and Eb). An eight key flute has another F natural and two low C# and C keys. Fully chromatic. A silver flute in C is also fully chromatic. Just depends on how tricked out you can afford your flute to be;) Cross-fingerings are also possible.
