it does not apply to everyone equally because there is not a flat tax, but progressive tax.

Taxation is not all theft. Tax which is spent on the military, police, and courts, is a payment for a service. This service is 'law' - which applies equally to all persons located within the states borders, and who are registered as being part of the state. Everyone can choose to avoid this service and its charge by exiting the state.
But yes, the rest of the tax is theft.

@Forthew0lf There would be competition, it would cost less.

@jeffsandychelsea I didn't say taxes were rent, it was a metaphor. roads, schools and just about everything would still exist, but they would be more expensive. driving to work wouldn't only cost you gas, but tolls, tolls that would charge for safety, like lights and signs, maintenance, and all of that, so you would still have to pay to use them. The differences is that only people that use them would have to pay, which is probably what you want, except, it would cost alot more

@Forthew0lf Rent is when you sign a contract to a property owner to use their property. You're a damned fool if you think that taxation is ok. NO ONE ever agreed to it, they only pay because the government will throw them in a cage if they don't. You can't honestly believe that we wouldn't have any roads and schools without half of our money being stolen from us.

Taxes are not rent. You choose how much you want to pay in rent. Tax rates are dictated through force, as PunkRockLibertarian has stated many times. If you fail to pay rent, you lose your place of shelter. If you fail to pay taxes, you lose your freedoms. While shelter is important, nothing is more important than to allow an individual to make his or her own decisions for his or her own life and property.
And check out Seasteading - a man can be an island. One can dream...

Think of taxes as rent. you pay rent for where you live, you pay taxes for where you live. the more money you have the nicer your house, the nicer your house the more rent you pay.... society has given you what you need to acquire that wealth too, as others have stated. so pay your rent to our country.

@swu880 You most certainly can opt out. You can move. There are around 200 countries in the world. Pick one and move. You aren't held in bondage and forced to live were you do (assuming you are living in one of the worlds free & democratic states). If you don't like any of the choices available to you in regards to all of the countries in the word then find an unihabited island that isn't part of any state's territory. It's up to you to find your stateless soceity or go elsewhere to create it.
What about that rich neighbor with all those Benjamin's stealing from me by using all the benefits society has provided allowing him to accumulate all those goodies?
Roads, utilities, police, firemen, military, educated work force, all the infrastructure that keeps him from living in a cave.
No man is an island. If he really did not need society, tell him to live in the woods on his own.

@Aquimedes1 -There is difference between society and government. "Man, no doubt, owes many other moral duties to his fellow men; such as to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless, care for the sick, protect the defenseless, assist the weak, and enlighten the ignorant. But these are simply moral duties, of which each man must be his own judge, in each particular case, as to whether, and how, and how far, he can, or will perform them." – Lysander Spooner

@PunkRockLibertarian I did not give examples of charity, I gave examples of societal infrastructure. Aren't we supposed to pay for all major and minor boons from a Nation which allows us to prosper and gain wealth?
Unless each individual will build his own road to a factory he made with steel, bricks, power, protected with the gun he made... then the video should not be about is taxation right, but how much is a fair amount.

@Aquimedes1 -If the market provided these services you would get competition and better results all the while being voluntarily funded. It's merely a matter of principle... Most taxed are paid at the threat of government coercion. You don't have the right to impose force on your neighbor, why should the State. "If taxation without consent is not robbery, then any band of robbers have only to declare themselves a government, and all their robberies are legalized."–-Lysander Spooner
