Param Veer Chakra awardee Bana Singh from Jammu and Kashmir : chief guest.

Speaking to presspersons here on Saturday, Capt. Singh, who also served at Siachen glacier during his service, lamented at the way the armed forces personnel in the country were treated by the government. Soldiers operate in hard to imagine and most hostile conditions to serve the country and they need to be treated better, he said. After the service, for years he was paid a pension of a mere Rs.160 which was raised following hue and cry at the treatment meted out to the armed forces personnel. It is not just the question of money as soldiers serve the cause of motherland. But this is not how they should be cared for, he said.
Contributions
Heeralal Yadav from Mumbai, who is doing research on issues related to armed forces, said the country should understand the contributions of those serving the defence forces and remember their sacrifices.
