The title says it all. This train is very difficult to catch since it runs only during late night hours. This video was taken just after 3AM. Enjoy the sounds at the end as the train disappears into the night.

Also, take a good look at the cars in tow, as it will be the last time you will ever see them. This train is basically the scrap train. The cars in tow are going to Progress Rail's scrap yard just down the tracks.

Also of note, Progress Rail was founded at this location by a local entrepreneur that got into the scrap business. Since Caterpillar has bought out the company, he is a multi millionaire now.

  • Cool, I do the night chasing of Z390 down here in bham. Every so often I'll catch Z389 running back to attalla with to be scrapped cars. I noticed there wasn't an eot on the end of this run?

  • @djzimm85 Cool deal. I like catching the Z trains. :) They left the EOT off here because they were only going down about 1/4 mile to drop this string of cars at Progress Rail and pick up a string of loaded gons.

  • Thank you Jeff! Another upload is in progress. ;)
