Minwax PolyShades is stain and polyurethane in one step. If you want the convenience of putting on your stain and polyurethane in one step, Minwax gives you that option with Minwax PolyShades. As the name implies, PolyShades contains stain color and polyurethane protection in one can, offered in 12 wood stain colors in either gloss or satin sheen. Minwax PolyShades is an oil-based wood product. First begin by testing stain on a piece of scrap wood. Prepare wood with Minwax Pre-Stain Wood Conditioner. Apply stain at the same time as applying polyurethane by using PolyShades and a good quality natural bristle brush. The key to quality is to apply thin coats of PolyShades. To make the color darker, add another coat of PolyShades.
