  • stop using credit cards.. save your money and pay cash

  • NBC is stupid for going after collectors. Yes those guys are nothing but financial thugs, but the real God father of this whole issue is the credit card company and the government

  • The solution is not government control over credit vendors, the solution is educating kids on the importance of fiscal responsibility. Problem is... nobody wants to do that. God forbid members of a CAPITALIST society exercise some sort of fiscal responsibility.

  • living a frugal life can be a very helpful way of seeing you don't have to be purchasing all the time, and you can remain happy. today i had a great lunch by volunteering to a community organization, and i thought if i were deadly broke this is what i can do to have food to eat. i can't believe there are valuable ways you can stretch your money, and purchase good quality items that can last even longer than cheap items. living with no debts is one of the best ways to live. it is just a lifestyle

  • tips: bring your lunch to work, ride a bicycle instead, live renting from a relative or a friend, or share an apartment, go on dates having picnics and visiting museums, do garage sales, donate what you can't sell, gain harmony and drop all the baggage, but most importantly, look for friends or relatives to have something you need before you head to purchase it. and most importantly celebrate life, rent books from the library, take dance classes, and travel cheap as much as you can

  • There's so many sides to this issue. Many creditors are turning their backs to concerns about people getting credit who really shouldn't be

  • Also I noticed they didn't really say what kind of credit card it was when they were interviewing people about their debt. "It was a store credit card", when in fact it was a TARGET VISA card! I think NBC was being careful not to piss off its sponsors.

  • Yeah I kind of agree with what others said, I thought it was kind of lame for DATELINE going after the bill collectors and not after the BANKS themselves. I wonder why?...... DATELINE on NBC sponsored by Capital One, "whats in your wallet?"

  • People don't understand how credit card payments work. Offers of 15,000 cash transfers and one thinks one can carry one's mortgage longer but the payments are prohibitive and one looses a house because the 0.5% interest becomes 19% Many people don't know what 19% is or that you have to pay off all other balances first to the the 0.5% which only is for six months anyways.

  • Though the the collection agencies are in the wrong...I can understand the frustration. Most people probably never pick up. A bunch more don't pay. A ton of them lie. I can see why they would be motivated to say it's legal...

  • the days of living high on the hog are over..its now fashionableto be budgeting and being fiscally responsible
