Jesse, Thank you for this presentation. I love your almond butter and appreciate what you and your company do to support the California Almond Growers. Thanks for taking a "radical stand" to not allow USDA regulations to sway your company to buy imported almonds. I believe we all must support our domestic growers and producers. this isn't a big conspiracy to trick you esalek, obviously no one can do that. i'm sorry the world isn't as black and white as you want it to be. why don't you take up your issues with those at the Cornucopia Institute and go after the people who created all of these problems in the first place- the USDA!

Why don't you call up Jesse and ask him? I don't know him, but personally I have bought over 700 lbs. of raw almond over the last 3 years for my my personal use.
And when the new law (which I also strongly disagree with) came into effect, I switched to steamed pasteurized, which is as "raw" as you can get without buying in-person from the farmer. Esalek, share your experience, ~ Where & how do you buy your truly raw almonds?

..simply you can't consider almond alive after the high temperature heating process of pasteurization. Maybe we should respect the word "alive" much more than this, much more than our business profits. Jesse, shame on you that not only you lie about your product, but you also make this whole video and relate all of these highly respected historical figures to your lie.

Living Tree and Jesse always represent themselves to be so spiritual, caring, and respectful of natural, alive food that even Jesse himself wrote about, and showed his strong disagreement with California almond pasteurization. The whole problem is that pasteurized almond butter is being labeled and advertised as "alive" (exact same as the labeling they used prior to using pasteurized almond), which is a lie, since..

Most of us that care about natural and alive foods know, that California organic almonds must now be pasteurized for retail sale and the USDA allows pasteurized almonds to be labeled as raw. But pasteurization and mislabeling pasteurized almonds as raw should be a crime against both farmers and consumers!

in order to use CA almonds Living Tree has to comply with the regulations. Please do some more research before you decide to just slam someone!

On the website: "... the almonds we are offering have been processed in compliance with the USDA rule that went into effect in September 2007. They are exposed to steam for 8 seconds at 210- 215°F. Then for 44 seconds they are moved through a dehydrating tunnel to remove the moisture resulting from the steam.The circulating air temperature is 391- 395°F. During this process the almonds are 221-220°F on their surface and 110- 115°F at their core."
