Launch of a Delta II rocket carrying the NPP environmental satellite. Viewed from the Math Sciences Building on the UCLA campus, approximately 130 miles from the launch site at Vandenberg AFB.
Nice! Can I ask you what camera or camcorder you used? I saw it from Ventura County and just used the video mode of my Nikon D90 and even though I was a bit closer I think your video came out much better than mine. However, I was happy to get anything at all since the weather cooperated for me too.
@bbartky I used a Canon 5D Mark II with a 50mm f1.4 lens. I left the lens wide open, and pushed the ISO all the way to 6400, with a shutter speed of 1/30. The image isn't tack sharp since I was wide open, but from past experience I knew I wanted as much light as possible. I'm thinking of going for some telephoto footage next time. :-)
How long would the chemtrail last for? I live in the Inland Empire near Temecula and I saw weird trails in the sky at 630am when I was coming home from work. It could be seen from Northern San Diego Cnty to Central Riverside Cnty. Did the rocket launch go west to east or was it the clouds drifting in the air??
@JehovahSaveUs I'm pretty sure the contrail can stick around for several hours, so you're probably right that this is what you saw. The trajectory took the rocket almost due south, but I'm sure winds could have moved the trail quite far off from this.

@sgtkill234 Yeah the last few have been too foggy from where I am, so it was great to finally get such a nice view!
