Mercy Corps Senior Writer Roger Burks reports from a food warehouse in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, on January 24 as food supplies are loaded onto a truck for delivery to the earthquake-stricken city's main hospital.
Thats a great idea! Lets send millions of dollars of aid... Now we'll wait a few day till we decide to hand it out... Then we'll sore it in a building that is about to come down onto its self... wow.... who though of this idea? lol still though great job everyones doing... But whats the point of us sending out aid if its not going to get anywhere?!
Much of the food at this warehouse was there before the earthquake struck - as you may know, Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, where most of the population lives on less than $2 a day. Food aid has always been essential there. And so this food was in the warehouse when it collapsed, and has remained there for distribution by agencies such as Mercy Corps. Also, it isn't just sitting around - trucks are coming in and out all day, carrying food to survivors all over the city.
@magicalpossibilities Hi there, when we were in the warehouse, there were at least three other trucks in there at the same time. While we were making sure the paperwork was in order, the loading crews were helping others. Yes, you're right, there's a lot of need and a lot of food there - but rest assured that the warehouse staff is working hard to help everyone!

Mercy Corps is doing awesome work. BUT ...
All that food and people still hungry... Also WHY aren't people hustling to fill up the truck so it can move out and make room for the next?
