  • New Wave and New Romantic movements weren't so very far apart as people like to think; both were inspired by a fear of imminent nuclear war and the socio-economic degradation of the Western powers. What have we got now...? No more Cold War & Quick-Fix Globalist Consumerism. What's the music today? Doof-doof, boom-boom with Gaga-GooGoo lyrics. No real angst, no real vision for tomorrow. Nothing intelligent to say; nothing musically worth remembering. Gen Z... prove me wrong, I challenge you.

  • always liked the hardcore stuff, not the duran poof malarkey, anyone a problem with that i will meet them outside kingston station with my scooter running, if you too big i will run, not from fear but from a bout of arthriiss, also i want it to be a sunny day, so fkn c'mon then u duranies

  • @Countrygent100- You are quite right there. Everything is easily available and that affects so many things, including creativity. Whilst I agree with you, there are some exceptional artists around today and it is not exactly a bland phase of music. In fact, if you search properly you will find new artists that will stand the test of time. One of them is an artist called Soviet Space Bat. Check him out.

  • Genius.

  • @mcutmore1 Imperial Leather.

  • @Countrygent100 well, yes, maybe....or perhaps it was just a pop-group fronted by a bloke in a rug flanked by two chancers who would later hit paydirt on EastEnders. All depends on whether you've swallowed a book on Media Studies I guess..

  • We've got the UK politics of the 80s all we need now is the music - the AIDs and were back in business!!

  • I'm fourteen and I really love it. That's hope for us!

  • I love the outfits, this 80s avant synth sound

    and of course, roland promars

    delicious...

  • @DJMimzy When Generation Z realises the how fatuous, self-seeking and vainglorious Generation Y is. Generation Y has been far too mollycoddled and indulged, and ironically this has made it far too smug and self-congratulatory to produce anything that is artistically valid. I have given up on Generation Y.

Generation Z - those who are perhaps around 5 or 10 years old right now - will bring in the next major Western cultural shift.

Another 10 years at least to go before we see it.

  • If you like good music (and 80s music really) go to my profile and listen to my music

  • @Countrygent100 when will the current issues start producing good music?
