@HiredForLife24 Well yeah in CQB full auto or 3 round is a much better option, but opening up down range is a quick way to burn through your ammo. This isn't Call of Duty, you don't carry 300 rounds or more on you, you carry a couple hundred and that needs to last your entire patrol. What you say makes sense, but in some cases its not as practical as well aimed shot for shots.

@ThatGuy571 What if you're in a room-to-room situation with the insurgent popping out before you have a chance to fish out a grenade? Of course it takes 1 shot to take him down, but 3 shots per trigger pull would give you a better chance of hitting him, or even land multiple shots into him. It's just my opinion.

@HiredForLife24 Not if its at distances over 50 or 100 yards, shouldn't waste ammo on targets you can barely see. Also it only takes one well aimed shot to take a target down, with 5+ marines it isn't tough to take out a few insurgents. Plus opening up just makes you a target for their LMG's, hence why even the SAW gunner doesn't open up on targets he can barely see. No idea how many are actually out there.

Can someone please explain to me why servicemen don't use the 3-round burst option on their service rifles? I mean, you can explain it in terms of conserving ammunition, but in a CQB situation isn't it better to expend replaceable ammunition to save irreplaceable lives?
