Andrew Wasson of Creative Guitar Studio explains the use of Modulation in a piece of Music. He explains the two most popular types of modulating from one key to another in a song. Direct Modulation, which occurs when a key appears suddenly. And, Pivot Chord Modulation, which will use a chord shared by both keys to allow for a seamless transition between the old to the new.

  • wow you actually know what your talking about and teach concepts and most importantly !EXPLAIN WHY AND WHAT! you are doing....please dont ever stop giving a solid music theory lesson while teaching even if it seems novice, it forces people to relearn or learn fundamentals of music theory, which is scarce now on guitar....

  • Thank you for this great lesson Andrew! I know I've seen this before and have had it explained to me before, but the more I hear and practice it the clearer it becomes.

  • @jesuisravi I already know this. I was looking for theoretical logical explanation relating to how I can do these Modulations.

  • @kingymusic you can do ANYTHING you want to

  • Wonderful video, Andrew. Thank you so much. - Tom

  • @slashy04 In that case if the correct term is 'Modal Interchange' does that mean you don't have to borrow from parallel major/minor's? You can borrow chords from modal scales such as Lydian, Mixolydian? And obviously the same to minor modal scales?

  • @kingymusic that's modal interchange, so yes

  • Is Parallel key a type of modulation as well? Like from D major to D minor or is that just borrowed chords?

  • dude, I feel stupid listening to you talk about Music. thanks though!
