tell you what, there was a time in the NHL where the "C" wasn't given to the most famous person on the team, nor was it given to the most "skilled" but was given to the person who had leadership and class.

@arsenalfan00009 Yzerman, then Sakic. Love Sakic too, but Yzerman was greater!

It took god to make the world in 7days but it took him 19 days to mold the perfect captain, leader, player and human...Thank-you god and Steve for the memories.

I remember being at that retirement ceremony and that ovation for him when he first came out went on for a good 5 minutes straight. No one wanted to stop clapping. This guy is a legend

@kruseman44 okay douchey youtube guy, we dont need you to critique the retirement ceremony of a legend and the impact it had on people. we gave him that for a night because he gave us a career of gold. go away with your bullshit, nobody cares.

wow this was a little much. the music played during the raising of the jersey was kind of corney. The people crying in the stands was a little to much as well.

obviously your not from around here. Steve Yzerman wasn't just a hockey player, far from. What made him who he is was what he did for Detroit and area on AND off the ice. I'm from windsor across the river and he came and visited my little cousin in the hospital when he had cancer and gave him tickets to a game and a dressing room pass for when he felt better.
Steve Yzerman = Simply the best.. like the song says when he comes out.. hands down
