i hope that 2013 will come soon, so i will not have to hear any more about this 2012 crap. However, I always hoped to see a supernova's explosion in my life time. i still hoping.

The rotational axis of Betelgeuse isn't facing earth. We're not in any danger.

Hey just wanted to say, that I like astronomy very much and appreciate people like you, who give real facts. I am extremely tired with all this 2012 superstition, and I really hate when they use science to create rumors or religion to justify things. Thumbs up dude.

from @ Arabic bat al-dshauza, “the giant's shoulder” Some pronounce it Betal-el-jere, but that is archaic and no one is interested in that type of thing lol
@ :32 LMAO! Yes it would be bright .. However we would not see the Explosion of light for maybe a thousand years after it happened depending on how far away it is in light years . "Slapping my face"

@jamezxh Yes, perhaps it would be better said, "If it has . . .." If it happens now, we'll be dead before we see it, but if it has already some time ago, then that light may reach our eyes before we die.
