Dude this is one of the best if not THE best fire fighter because unlike most, it was not back fitted to fight fires it was DESIGNED for it.

@oncelostmain Faster isn't always better. In addition to points made by hoestess, the CL415 needs only ~830m (~2700ft) on land or water to takeoff whereas the BE200 needs 1800m (~6000ft) on land and 2300m (~7600ft) on water. That is quite significant as it limits where the aircraft can be operated from. More available landing areas means that the aircraft can stay closer to the fire, thereby more effective.

I live in Montreal where the CL415 is built. I believe we need to build more of these to counter the rise in frequency of forest fires due to climate change.

the cl-215 are good the cl-415 are better and widely respected, what I would like to know is why no one has built an updated model of the martin mars water bomber.
That plane is in huge demand and no one has decided to build more of them.
Is it time for bombardier to do a 615?

@oncelostmain 415 is smaller= more effective in tight spaces, it also has better low speed performance; exactly what you want when flying low in hazardous terrain. In short, the 415 can get to places where no one would dare take a BE-200.

I guess you are unaware that last summer during a demo flight, the BE-200 lost an engine and started a forest fire.....Its a cood thing there was a CL415 there to put it out!
