Drottningholm Castle is located on "Queen's Island" in the Mälarsea, twelve kilometres from Stockholm. Of Franco-Dutch design, construction of this regal residence began in 1662 and the castle is now the residence of the Swedish royal family.

Lively influences that date back to the Baroque and Rococo periods are part of the characteristic features of the spacious park that surrounds the castle. A number of the sculptures and works of art that feature in the garden were captured in various military campaigns. The cultural elements of various epochs are also reflected in the general layout of the park that is often referred to as the Swedish Versailles.

Drottningholm Castle has managed to retain the regal atmosphere of the Swedish royal families just as it was during the 18th century.

  • I'm sorry to bring this up! But I can't make it up... Due to I don't even own a small house, and according to global issues... it seems I'll pass away before that... º_º Doesn't sound familiar!? Cheers to them!!!

  • I did too and watched the opera Cecilia and the Monkey King not to mention the picnic on the lawns. Fabulous!

  • I have had the pleasure of visiting and spending time at Drottningholm. It is magical and utterly delightful!
