  • If you want to know more, there should be some info on wikipedia that can help you out. That's how I got up with this info. I didn't even know about a tangent piano before, interesting stuff. Thanks for asking :-)

  • They are not the same instrument. They differ in sound, looks and inside mechanics. Wikipedia: "The tangent piano has an unusual sound that fuses the qualities of the harpsichord and piano. The treble resembles the bright sound from a light action piano, and the bass resembles the bass from a harpsichord. The sound from instrument to instrument varies, as does one's personal description of the tangent piano's sound."

I hope that helps you out a bit. I've never heard of a tangent piano before...

  • Hello, thank you for uploading this recording! I have a question: is the clavichord the same thing as the tangent piano? I tried looking all over the Internet and actually found this question difficult to find stated simply. Even visiting Wikipedia did not solve my problem, as it both did and then did not affirm this, using two different articles. :S Thank you for any assistance you could offer me!
