Dreamworlds 3, the highly anticipated update of Sut Jhally's groundbreaking Dreamworlds 2 (1995), examines the stories contemporary music videos tell about girls and women, and encourages viewers to consider how these narratives shape individual and cultural attitudes about sexuality. Illustrated with hundreds of up-to-date images, Dreamworlds 3 offers a unique and powerful tool for understanding both the continuing influence of music videos and how pop culture more generally filters the identities of young men and women through a dangerously narrow set of myths about sexuality and gender. In doing so, it inspires viewers to reflect critically on images that they might otherwise take for granted.

But at the same time, how can you not say that, conciously or sub-consiously her actions or behaviour opened a door for some sick guy to do this vile thing. It goes without saying, if you show dogs steak, not all will bite but some will. whose at fault, the dogs or the meat provider?
the rape issue is not the woman's fault, let's make that clear. But, for example, if a person was a criminal and they see that you are wearing expensive jewelry while flashing a big roll of money, compared to others around you who may not be so flashy, you just might become a target. same thing applies to the rape issue. Now, I'm not saying that any girl who dresses provocatively, or gets drunk to the point of excess deserves to get raped.
And I'll use small words so perhaps you will understand.
I am not a dude... FIRSTLY. Secondly I am a woman who has ALSO been a victim of sexual assault that occurred WHILST I was "shit faced."
I don't CARE about my condition at the time. Anybody who would dare to suggest that I take ANY of the blame in that disgusting person's actions is furthering a stereotype that I some how "asked for it." A response I have had too many times.
I agree with Circus. There is no excuse for rape. The very definition for rape is unwanted sex. If someone does not understand the meaning of "no", and can't tell when sex is unwanted, maybe some time in the slammer will teach them. But rapists must take responsibility for their crimes. Blaming the victim and making excuses gives rapists excuses, and condones a rape-culture.
I hate rapists more than you could understand. That was so fucking ignorant, you don't know me. Why the fuck am I being attacked for saying the obvious? PEOPLE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF DRUNK GIRLS. Everyone wants to reduce their risk of being attacked. Fuck, I consider "don't get shit-faced" good advice for anyone. Yeah it happens to sober people, but other times girls are hurt because they drank to where they couldn't defend themselves. Eliminate that possibility. Don't get wasted. lol Common sense.
LOL! I never said women don't have the right to drink. You're extrapolating things now. I find it ridiculous that you think it's NOT good advice for girls to avoid getting shit-faced and to be careful about where they are and with whom. It won't prevent all rapes, but there are plenty of people that advice could save. Idc if it's not PC enough for you. I wish I could go back in time to reconsider going off with some dude I didn't know, without anyone knowing where I was or whom I was with.
Now I know you're feeling attacked. But *I'm* not actually attacking you. I'm trying to point you to the logical conclusions of your argument.
Of course I never personally condone "getting shit-faced."
What Roxusan mentioned is true. When you start saying, "Do this, do that to minimize your chances of being raped" it starts a blame cycle on the victim for THEIR actions effecting the actions of the attacker.

Let me put it this way...

Shouldn't they KNOW they shouldn't be driving that late when they know there's gonna be drunk drivers on the road?
Also, why are they driving that shitty hatchback when they should've been driving an SUV that would better protect them in a crash?
Clearly, at least some of the blame should be on the hard-working guy trying to make ends meet. It can't all be the drunk driver's fault.
