The effects of this sort of deep-rooted misogyny are cumulative. No, it's not likely a man will see a music video and automatically go out and rape a woman. But when women are constantly seen only in relation to men (as in music videos), or as objects (as in most advertising) it becomes increasingly easy to dehumanize them. If you need me to explain why viewing a group of people as subhuman is dangerous, you should get off Youtube and take a history class.

while the message may or may not be misguided, I think that the images about NYC did not aid the argument. Those women should have gone home the minute people started getting rowdy you have to avoid putting yourself in those situations

this video is fucking stupid. theres 7 billion people on this planet. crazy and terrible shit is going to happen. you cant escape that. stop trying to blame it on music videos. no one even watches music videos. and anyone who thinks they can just go up to women and forcefully have sex wiht them when they please obviously has mental issues from the start. just because you saw a few instances out of the billion people on this earth commit violence towards women doesnt mean all men think this way.

Geeze, man. They make this shit seem like a tragedy. This documentary is misguided and uninformed.

@BeardedClamMeister Hello? Have you never heard of a wet t-shirt contest? The women in the park didn't seem to be enjoying being doused with water/booze and just like having their clothes ripped off/being grabbed it was done to them without their permission for the purpose of male viewing pleasure. The distinction you're trying to make between the two acts is really problematic.

I cried during this video and that has never happened before... As a woman I don't feel safe that doesn't surprise me in the slightest. It's not only because of that physical things that can happen but it's the mental, the thoughts- the fact that men think like this, that they can't think for themselves and are easy to objectify women. I am not a object, I am a woman strong, independent and sexual. That does not give anyone the right to do hurt, objectify or demean me.

Shit like this terrifies me. No matter how conservatively I dress, how many precautions I take or weapons I carry, there are people out there perfectly willing to sexually assault me. What can any woman do when there is a horde of men ripping her clothes off? It was in broad daylight and in public, goes to show you that it can happen anywhere.
I don't know where we can start, but our culture needs to be redefined so that women are no longer seen as objects by the media and by so many people.

its one thing to spray the women with booze, but its another to smack them and rip off their clothes. Its not even arousing.

@nikkikgu RIGHT!!!! totally agree.

@Otana I hope people think it's disgusting, because it is. It also happens to be true.
I have to say, drunk women are not the culprits. Rapists are. Women shouldn't have to change their lifestyles just because some men are so uneducated and disgusting that they can't stop thinking about sticking their penis' into anything feminine. Women should be able to drink just as much as men do, and men should incur harsher punishments for rape or sexual assault.

Unlike dogs, men (supposedly) can control their impulses, follow lines of logic, understand repercussions, and have a sense of empathy.
And honestly, how would you react if women all of a sudden stopped living up to your expectations of sexiness/attractiveness? It's funny because men impose these standards and then blame women for looking the way they do because they are supposedly inviting rape.
You are a moron.
