@gregkarb I was a trainee metallurgist, so the pay wasnt great, but when trained, it would pay very well.
I liked the fact that I was making something, I like the black humour in the foundry and liked the responsibility. I can honestly say there was nothing much i didnt like, except the heavy molten metal gear in summer.

How well did the job pay if not secret? What did you like/dislike about it? Im about to get a similar job.

Man this isn't tube making. I used to work for british steel Clydesdale work and made Steel pipes of offshore used seamless tubes. This meant taking a large billet of steel and heating it up, driving a 1000tonne press plunger down the middle of it and then rolling the billet along a internal bar using the pilger process.
These tubes were incredibly strong and sought after for the offshore pipeline drilling.
