Title track from the Verlaines "Bird-Dog" album, which is perhaps their best album (I like "Some Disenchanted Evening" Best myself). Note - this is from official Flying Nun DVD - buy a copy from http://www.smokecds.com/cd/36458

  • thanks, where i come from this music is hard to come by. not music but the verlaines in general. great band. could anyone tell me the name of track they had on the no alternative compilation.thanks again

  • Heavy 33. As far as I know, that was the only time that song appeared on an album - it wasn't on any of their other albums or singles.

  • God save the Verlaines.

  • I fukn luv the way The Verlaines use classical motifs really subtly in some of their passages. They do this w/out a hint of pretentiousness, which seems like a fatal flaw in so many bands -(I sure would be if I was in a super-cool indie rock band, and had tons of song writing chops)

  • I really love this song, but what the hell is it about?

  • hehe the lead singer in my uncle :)

  • Bought a comp cd called "Tuatra" in the early 90s and fell in love with NZ music instantly. Remember thinking 'what are they putting in the water to make such interesting, passionate musicians?, I want to drink gallons'.

  • great song and great lp- a slight off beat sound thats infectious- can;t stand the commercial crap we get today

  • @tlm315 - Roger Shephard has bought back the FLYING NUN label and is in the process of re-releasing all the old eps and albums. nice.

  • Yeah bro. Love Paulaner. You can get it on tap at a few places here in Tokyo. In Austria, while hitch-hiking as a student, I had a couple tall glasses of Gösser offered me, both times preceded by shots of peppermint schnapps, which I am not such a big fan of...

  • i like that imported german beer too! great album, so i have to assume great band too!

  • i used to have two CDs of that album--no alternative--so each of my brothers must have one since i can't find either CD!

  • Love this song too - one of my favorites from their masterpiece Bird Dog record.
