This is a poem I wrote, I hope you enjoy it.
It is perhaps the poem to which I identify the most, since it has been written during a very complex time.
Every paragraph is indicated by a different picture (excluding the last picture which is part of the last paragraph).

Although the poem is mine, I do not take any credit for the music or the images used.

Soundtrack:

El Condor Pasa (covered by Jorge Nolla on Acoustic Guitar)
Flight of Icarus - Iron Maiden
Eagle - Gamma Ray

Here is the whole poem:

I rose up my head towards the sky that seemed so blackened
Because of the massive distance between the sun and the ground
Yet my mind was drawn to a place that my eyes found
Where I saw majestics fowls on their graceful flights
And my vanquished soul wished that had happened
That I too was born with wings to fly close of the heavenly lights

And as I was thinking of the earthly shackles that bind
I was struck by an unnamable feeling
For far above I saw a glorious shadow
And I heard the cry of an eagle
Soaring so close of the sun that blinds
While I, over dust and dirt, can only crawl and wriggle

My eyes glimmered gazing that bird so divine
While my mind drifted in wonder
Questioning why I did not have wings to take me yonder
Why would no wind carry me up?
Why is the ground the fate of mine?
Why have I nothing but flesh on my back?

And as I envied the eagle flying so high
Far upon in the heavens so mighty n glorious
I wished for myself the right to fly just as victorious
Thus I took the knife in my hand
And, feeling the muscles of my hind so tight,
I decided to cut my bond with the land

The flesh of my own back was ripped by the sharp edge
And while I cried "no longer will I be under!"
I guided the blade into tearing me asunder
The time had now finally come to depart
To fly away from the ground where the sun shines dimmed now I fledge
From the proximities of the light I will no longer be appart

So I decided to try me my new wings
And jumped from the scarp with a scream
So similar to the one shouted by the eagle it seemed
And the birds praised me as I jumped from the cliff I had been on
While I saw them flying over my head in beautiful, perfect rings
To which I would now join, as an eagle reborn

  • ehehee..

  • not a bad poet but i miss a certain play of words in it

  • I will listen to your song when I return to Chile, because the computer in the hostel hasnt got speekers (plus my internet expiren in 5 minutes). I just returned from the vatican. It was beautiful.

the best thing about europe is how freely you can travel between countries. Sadly it isnt like that in South America, though Chile still kicks ass ;)

And yes, in awe and hail to the ancient times I will send you a song when I can. I will think of one in the 2-days-long trip back home.

    Take care, gal

  • Gal, I'm not mad at you...

perhaps I felt disappointed, but I can't be mad. Yet you might now that I'm too proud to be be the one who writes again ;)

I'm glad that you do like this poem and felt like telling me it, that was a kind gesture. I think you do know that I feel like my poem.

I'm also very glad that you have learned about such a beautiful religion and life-style.

I have been currently in Germany and Italy. In 2 days I'll return to Chile.

    Take good care :)

  • Im glad it catched your eye! Thank you, your songs are also amazingly cool. Religion Sucks has got great lyrics, but Shout has got one of the most amaying riffs Ive heard, I really think that Metallica or another band might steel it from you!

  • You better! Your poem grabbed my attention! You have a real talent there!
