In this tenth and final lesson for the Russian Language 101 course covering basically the Cyrillic alphabet as used in Russian, Huliganov puts together the alphabet (which has been taught in the earlier lessons in thematic order) back into dictionary order, and also presents more material on the handwritten or italic forms.

I would also like to announce that a group has been set up featuring Hulganov's Russian lessons:
http://www.youtube.com/group/russianlessons
It is hoped that the students of the course will be able to interact both with Huliganov and each other and get help and answers to any questions they might have. I like to get comments in the comments boxes here, but it doesn't always allow a response, and there may be better scope for interaction in the groups section of YouTube.

At the end, Huliganov presents Nosov's military song "Far Away". It is about a soldier on guard duty thousands of miles from home, thinking about his loved one. I would like to dedicate it to my colleagues in the audit profession.

The next course, called RL102 Russian Basic Grammar Part One, will be starting in the New Year. I am already planning the material.

  • You have really inspired me to learn Russian Viktor. I was adopted, learned that my biological grandmother on my father's side was Russian. Traveled to Russia and learned it fluently, lived there and down the road, taught English to Russian youth, not sure how old. Again, spaceba, dasvydanya :)

  • @DrRocksosBitch Great to hear from you, and glad to have been of service.

  • I only don't understand Russian attachment to religion... In Italy here, it appears everyone is just christian to conformism, you know, we have Vatican here, but you people really appear to need it! It's crazy and really sad in my opinion. What makes Rus' so fascinating for me is the anarchical part of the russian soul, but, what the hell, you do have problems to have to do with it! What do you think about that?

  • @lelorinel182 Catholicism, which is of course the dominant force of religion in Italy, actively encourages the person to politically conform to a very politicised church. In Russia, especially Protestants but even Orthodox too, know all about being on the opposite side to the state. When the Church and the State are on the opposing sides, you tell the wheat from the chaff a bit in the Church. These days in Russia it is not the same, but Baptists can never be comfortable like the Orthodox here.

  • Thanks a lot Viktor, really, I appreciated very much your help! You have to listen to how Russian folks say their sounds, otherwise you understand nothing! I'm going to listen grammar lessons as sono as I can! (part 1, 500 letters is just ludicrous!)

  • I found a video of the ending song with Russian Text, so you can follow along with the words. I can barely follow along with what little Russian I have learned so far. It's easier to follow along with Huliganov than it is with the video. But, it is a very beautiful song. It shows the beauty of the language. Search: Муслим Магомаев "Далеко - далеко" 1985

  • @SnipeChief matryoshka.

  • @usenetposts ok thank you, another question the russian nesting dolls are called matryashka dolls right?

  • @SnipeChief New Numa. It was the subject of a YouTube contest at the time I made this, attracting several hundred entries many of which you can still see by searching on New Numa.
