Response to response to response to Movie Club

Video cut out, so here is the last bit I was going to say.

In real life, I am a "normal" guy. A bit of a man-child, as evidenced by my posters and geekdom and passion for many things pop-culture related. I'm married to a gorgeous woman and I have a beautiful daughter, and two fucking cats and a stupid dog. I work a full-time job, I own a house, pay my mortgage, and generally live life the same way most of you do. Am I pretentious and an asshole and sometimes put my foot in my mouth? Sure. But you're no better. Really. The things I say and do are no worse than the things you think and don't put out there. In the grand concept of it all, its less cowardly to hide behind the facade that everything is great and everything is wonderful in the world, because its not. I know people use YouTube as an escape, and as a hobby, and as something to (and I'm borrowing a phrase here) get them through some tough times, but that still doesn't change a damn thing.

The idea that, because I flamed and bashed some of your "friends" makes me a miserable person who, by your conclusion, must live in my mothers basement or not get laid, is a bit of a stretch. In the same way, perhaps, that my calling anyone a fucking idiot for doing some stupid things can be viewed as a stretch. This is how things work. I don't fault anyone for basing their opinions or passing their judgments on me, because I do the same, and to NOT do that is almost inhuman. If you want to make me your rallying point, fine. I really do not care. I care in the aspect that I feel a slight need to defend myself. And I care enough to admit my fault in making a terrible video that was vague and rambling, and to try and correct that with THIS video. But at the end of the day, I don't care what any of you think about me, one way or the other.

I invited this, I'll admit, but I would much rather invite the criticism than to hide behind the fact that, yeah, a bunch of you piss me off. You're lazy. You're pretentious (in your own ways). That much is evidenced in your comments towards me. And I wouldn't have it any other way. Do you know why? Its not because I'm a troll. And its not because I'm some glutton for punishment. And its not because I see myself as a pariah. The reason I welcome ALL of this is because, for one goddamn moment, you people actually showed some passion towards something. You didn't hide behind your videos with your quick cuts and catch phrases and blatant forms of imitation. The bullshit political correctness and "lets all be friends" crap washed away. For the first time in the whole of movie club, you weren't the pale reflections of yourselves that you show in your reviews. You were mad, and fucking lashed out, and got past the bullshit. So thanks, I guess, for that. In a way, most of you showed me that you aren't just shallow and tired turds going through the motions. You showed me that you can be passionate turds all the same.

So...yeah. Fucking hate me, whatever. At the end of the day, I'll still make videos, and still comment on the movie club, and still occasionally bruise your precious egos. This whole thing is as much an exercise in a continuing habit for me as it is for you to feel a sense of community. But for the love of God, don't act so high and mighty. And if you're going to, don't point at me for doing the same.

We're all only human, after all.

@sillyhedwig Well if they're on the internet to talk to their friends, there is an option, right here on YouTube, to make videos only able to be viewed by friends. I would say the same about your argument approach, but then again, I bathe my cats, so...yeah.

In the same way that you're going on and on defending your friends here because you "decided" they are good people. The fact that every single thing on the internet has a like/dislike or review system ENCOURAGES people to pass judgment. And they made their videos for PUBLIC consumption, and I'm included in that sector. If they're making it for anything else, privatize it.

@sillyhedwig And to say you would be there for an internet friend, would you? Are you going to call out of work for an internet friend? Or tell a REAL person that you know that you can't attend an engagement with them because TheKing315 from YouTube just had a death in the family? Of COURSE you wouldn't. Thats ludicrous. Don't posture and claim you are full of sympathy and empathy, because you SAY you would treat an internet friend the same as a real one. Thats just a bold faced lie.

@sillyhedwig As for saying it to someone with asbergers or another mental handicap, why wouldn't I say it? Should I treat them differently because of their handicap? Is that what you're saying? Of course I would say the same things. In the same way I took the criticisms, they can too. If they're going to put themselves out there, they need to know the reality of it. Handicap, mental instability, or no. This is just a tired and ignorant argument to make.
